| Estadio Hector Espino is home of the Naranjeros de Hermosillo and named for the greatest hitter major-league baseball never saw. The first venue we've seen in Mexican winter ball with computerized ticketing and legroom for normal-sized human beings. While at the hotel, Greg was adopted by the hotel's designated "mouser" -- or in Jay's words, the "plague-infested flea carrier." He was very fond of us gringos, especially after Geoff gave him a leftover NY steak larger than the cat himself. Jay was none too fond of him, however, being allergic to cats. This trip included an excursion to the seaport town of Guaymas and its nearby beaches, including San Carlos, a quiet anchorage where Geoff Baranger came upon a Mexican-made Volkswagen Beetle, where the "Bug" was still being made in the old style known worldwide. |
